GARDENER - CARRIGTWOHILL, Co. Cork
Please note that this is a Community Employment Project and applicants will need to be in receipt of an Irish Social Welfare payment for at least 12 months to be considered.
This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.
Duties to include :
- Gardening, poly-tunnel maintenance and other aspects of horticulture development.
- Maintaining Plant Health through checking for pests, diseases and watering.
- Responsibility for the tunnels - General cleanliness; keeping the polythene clean inside and out, keeping block beds free of weeds and the plants in good condition, keeping the raised beds weed free.
- Grounds, Sensory gardens, Kitchen gardens, Polytunnel and Glasshouse Maintenance along with Garden Design and Horticulture Therapy Assistant
- Assisting the facilitators - General support, ensuring each work station has sufficient compost. Providing plants/pots etc as instructed.
- Noting jobs that could be done by clients during a horticultural session and bringing it to the attention of the facilitators.
- Help with the Grounds, Gardens and Horticulture Teams.
- Report any health and safety issues with regard to working areas and equipment are reported to management.
- Property Maintenance - To work closely with existing Ground Staff and Horticulture Team across their sites.
Training and additional supports are available.
To participate on CE, Applicants must generally be in receipt of an Irish social welfare payment for 1 year or more and be willing to work 19.5 hours per week.
